Cheerful, apathetic, cheerfully apathetic. Mostly. (He/him)
Weird childhood rhymes and taunts and mnemonic devices. Hunter's safety rules and language lessons, and maybe half-remembered bits from USA Network.

Like spells that hadn't been spoken aloud in 50 years. I didn't repeat any aloud. That seemed safer.

You're a grown-ass man, Barney, get your own yabba-dabba damn cereal!

I wonder if maybe he shouldn't have hosted the stories! With the exception of Rod Serling in old TWILIGHT ZONE; I don't think sci-fi anthology comics usually get hosts like the Crypt-Keeper or Cain & Abel.

Maybe there were technical difficulties.

I swear I've seen the corner-box monster mentioned online more than any of the actual stories from that book! And I read the Killdozer issue some years back!

More Ch'ods! No, at that he doesn't have a lot of reuse; but some of the BaF's don't.

The Three Stooges have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.

Elsa Bloodstone was been stalking Nightcrawler for years, since they were kids! (In-continuity, they’re roughly the same age!)

Another day with that song stuck in my head. “You don’t need pants for the victory dance…”

Probably! I was wondering if Claremont flipped through something like MARVEL PREMIERE #29 and thought he could use some of them, only for the continuity to not line up.

They suck and I hate them, and they give WWII vets a bad rap!

I dunno if anybody cares enough to have looked, but were those three created whole-cloth, or did Claremont want to use Liberty Legion guys like Whizzer or Living Diamond or something and get shut down?

Sssshh, Bully, don't ruin my plan:

Comic shops order a ton of the DC/Marvel books with a gazillion variant covers.

Nobody buys half of them because they think they already bought 'em.

I get a bunch of DC/Marvel books outta the dollar bin! Yay!
Oh, (muttering) and the direct market tanks out...

Assuming he'd be interested...in rolling around in a bin of money like Scrooge McDuck! I feel like that would still play now.

(I read a lot of those Heavy Hitter books, but think I lost my copies of DRAGON LINES. Phooey.)

I wanted to say Scourge (photo from @oafe.net!) but that might be a bit busy for Silver Age. Although, a lotta times I think of Jigsaw wearing a version of the Punisher's outfit! He needs a neckpiece/brace, though.

Bonus: my son brought with him a new couch for me. It's much nicer than my old one...but it's also HUGE and actually blocks the closet; I can't even get into it now.

Also, so his kids wouldn't adopt them as their own, I had to put the big Galactus and Sentinel figures in there...
December 7, 2025 at 3:57 PM
I still didn't get them all in there; I thought I'd be able to get way more in. Better racks would help, but the real Criterion Closet is way, way bigger. (The real one also doesn't have MAN-THING or JUDGE DREDD, two more points in its favor.)

Pretty sure he was in some "Forgotten Heroes" appearances in ACTION, or maybe the all-monkey issue of SECRET ORIGINS? (That was '89, so maybe not.)
