We flounced out of the EU on the say-so of politicians who lied to us. And what a total shitshow that’s turned out to be. The polar opposite of what they promised. Now the call to flounce out of the ECHR. By the same people. Telling the same lies. Has the country been kicked in the head by a horse?

Being accountable to an international court means our Government has to answer to them if it tries to undermine your human rights. Be very suspicious of any UK politician who wants to remove that check on their powers.

Share this and speak up for your freedoms.

Today Trump completely stabbed Zelenskyy, Ukraine and Europe in the back. When will UK politicians finally stop sucking up to Trump & the US? When will the UK finally drop their famous 'red lines' and start the process of applying to join the EU? 🇬🇧🇪🇺

America and Russia loved telling Europe what to do during the Cold War. But those days are now gone for good. Russia was the first to lose its influence when the wall came down, and now MAGAmerica is going to experience the same thing. It won't be easy, but if it's what America wants, so be it.

1. Trump and his Death Eaters cannot tolerate any rival power. Europe, when united, is a major trading and diplomatic bloc. They see Russia (much less of a threat to US hegemony) as an excellent instrument for breaking up Europe, by threat or by force.🧵

Today it feels like the world will end with a new, nasty regime in the US. And, apparently, we (UK) are looking to cost up to them. I despair, I really do! 😢

The coordinated attacks on Labour by Musk, Trump and the far-right press in favour of Farage make Labour's argument that "we have to support Brexit, otherwise the far-right will attack us" completely redundant. It's time for Labour to accept that #OperationAppeasement has failed.

Oh ok. The Mail now shouting at us that Trump is considering various vengeful snubs to our govt, as well as helping Farage in his bid to be prime minister.
Throughout Brexit, it howled about ‘sovereignty’. Now it cheers on a fascistic American slug meddling in our democracy.
What a toxic little rag.

Have you all reminded Keir Starmer and Labour of #Breturn yet today? They need a daily dose of #Breturn until they cave in and #Breturn. Did I mention #Breturn yet?

Rant: we not ally drive a Kia Niro EV, which is fantastic. Until faulty cells appear in the battery. We now have a temp hire car, petrol Peugeot 2008 hatch. The infotainment system is sh*t! The steering wheel isn’t actually a wheel and is uncomfortable…

So Kier Starmer PM is looking for ideas on how to boost the economy? Maybe my MP @mattwestern.bsky.social could let him know that the answer is obvious: much closer ties with the EU, rejoin the single market/EEA, and accept FoM. Better yet, let’s fully rejoin the EU (if they’ll have us!)

Starmer is going to have to face facts in economic terms (the only way to boost the economy is through free trade with proximate neighbours) and politics (the majority of British people know and want this) very soon, or it will be too late. Not being the Tories is not a long term strategy.

"A huge 68% of respondents in Britain see a benefit in reintroducing cross-Channel freedom of movement in exchange for access to the European single market."
UK and EU look to 2025 as year of reset but with little room for trade-offs
Sir Keir Starmer is invited to an EU summit in February - the first of its type since the Brexit negotiations.

Perhaps 2024 Starmer could chat with 2018 Starmer, and pick up an idea or two 🤷‍♂️
