Way back when UPC codes were first introduced, it was observed that people were less likely to argue with the price it scanned than if a person entered the price. People assumed the machine must be correct, even if they themselves thought otherwise.

Agreed it’s lazy. But it’s that or get pulled from the stores. They’re only doing this where they’re forced by legislation.

I should add that you can probably get back to normal by getting a different client to view Bluesky content. I believe these requirements are app level, and the smaller players are under the radar in the app stores.
