For encouragement: I’ve found so many unlikely allies in past few years especially BUT also have had some hard lessons that made it clear you always gotta have your guard up to some degree if it ain’t your kin or kindred…

Viewin that continuum of harm/violence as less “good guy” vs “bad guy” and more along those lines of “what is the likelihood of this person hurting me” or “how could this gang help/hurt my community”

I don’t wanna hurt or be hurt by nobody every again but also realize this be the world we live in.

Struggle’s real…asked an OG in my hood how he could work with certain gangs (+ some cops) that I view as especially harmful to community. He more or less said: decide pragmatically accordin to people’s interests/threat/complicity/receptiveness who to ignore/deescalate/collaborate and who’s a threat

Anyway they suck ass

Given more money, power, and fanboys to fawn over them, the drunken rages burn more of us, bottles and broken glass become larger, personal fantasies of Martian expeditions and Manifest Destinies clash with a reality they don’t understand

In my fam, communities, this has manifested in alcoholism, throwin bottles at us for pickin flowers or cookin with the matriarchs, video game addiction playin out lived more adventurous, a thousand other ways.

Caught lacking tween hunter-gather traditional masculine skills and women that have taken on the “bread winner” role in the service/management economy, they find themselves made increasingly irrelevant, average, and unwilling to grow or change or become what they need.

They despise and resent the “empathetic left”—prolly embodies their mothers or somethin that couldn’t protect em from the apathy and disdain of Err*l and Fr*d.

They want few things so much more than to punish them empaths that will not unconditionally tell em what a good boy they are.

They despise, fear, and are addicted to the validation that reminds em of their own bullies in New York military schools and Pretorian boarding schools—their rights of passage outsourced to dickheads.

Before desegregation they loved that black people paid for parks, hospitals, schools, pools that only white people could go to.

Greatest generation was happy to take handouts from my kin who fought in WWII but didn’t get no home loans out of it like they did.
