And you may ask yourself, “Well, how did I get here?”

Just a girldad & husband working in public health. Love a good musical, Boston sports, progressive politics, classic film, etymological tidbits, new wave music, & obsolete technology. Also pretty gay.

16 year-old Britney Spears rehearsing ahead of the filming of her music video debut in 1998. I’ve always thought the Baby One More Time choreography looked deceptively simple based on how the video is cut and how easy she makes it look. Fascinating to see the uncut routine.

Rubber Soul turns 60 next month and it would be the perfect time to release the super deluxe edition. Hopefully including a remaster of the US Capitol release. One can dream.

Funny to think that both Britney Spears and Natalie Portman were Laura Bell Bundy’s understudies in Ruthless! While Portman reportedly never went on, Spears did. Though pictures and audio have yet to surface of her stint, it was great to stumble across an IG user a few years ago who saw her!

The sequence during the West Side Story overture where “Mambo” segues back into “Tonight” and the screen pans out to reveal the complete title card before flashing all white and fading into the skyline is not just one of my favorite film openings, it’s one of my favorite moments in any film.

Say what you will about Little Women 1949 (no actually don’t because I love it) but it is also a “this cast!” moment.
