Hello! I didn’t post a lot on the other site because, well, who has time to deal with trolls? Looking forward to having actual conversations over here. I’m a voice actor, baker, crochet-er, mom, and cat lady. Love chatting about history and science and politics. Might mostly share pics of my cats.

Having trouble focusing on my narration today because I am so freaking MAD at what is happening in MN. Thugs with giant government paychecks - OUR tax dollars - just kidnapping, murdering, attacking whoever they feel like, with zero probable cause, no warrants, no accountability. This has to STOP.

Me last night, starting S3 of “The Diplomat” and watching the team put up an emergency SCIF that looked like a booth at a trade show: “Seriously??? That qualifies as a SCIF???”

I need help here: trying to submit comments to Jim Comer & the House Oversight Committee, but there is no contact info on the Committee website and his congressional site blocks me because my zip code isn't in his district. Is there a way around this? How do we contact reps who aren't our reps?

Another day, another Supreme Court decision suggesting that 5-6 of the current Justices have never actually read the Constitution. Farewell 4th amendment, I guess? On the plus side, soon we'll be able to generate renewable energy from the force of the Founding Fathers spinning in their graves...

It has been the honor of my life to serve as Commissioner of BLS alongside the many dedicated civil servants tasked with measuring a vast and dynamic economy. It is vital and important work and I thank them for their service to this nation.

Shout-out to #neurodiverse kids and the parents (+ calm hygienists) who have helped them through the sensory hell of a dentist appointment. My poor #AuDHD guy made it through this AM with lots of breaks and only 1 meltdown (which he could pull himself out of! Yay!), but we’re both wrung out now.

Well. Our government has officially declared it is willing to spend $$$ to make ICE a full-on army, but not to actually keep people safe by making sure they have access to health care.

In college (1995-ish) I was walking through Times Square when I passed Jerry Lewis. He was in town playing Applegate in Damn Yankees. I did a full-on unintentional double-take. He winked at me, and grinned. We both continued on in opposite directions.

The idea of “real America” being small & rural has been around since at least the Reagan administration. Hand in hand with “we have to try to understand rural voters.” I’ve lived in big cities my entire adult life—Chicago, San Francisco, NYC—and it is as real America here as it gets. We are America.
not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

Wrapped up another semester teaching Voice Acting at an NYU-Tisch studio today. The students were wonderful! They let me push them into new discoveries and found their unique voices. They’re all nervous about the world they’re entering…hopefully they can carry those voices forward.
