This being done, however, I'm back on my BS making a stupid social media site. Finally got the overly complicated user profile backend working with a form that lets you select some options!

Haven't really posted lately because I've been busy adding to my media collection.
Wrote some scripts to unpack each disc and demux each episode, reencode the video, auto-detect commentary tracks, and package and remux into an MKV file based on JSON files of episode names.

I lost my beloved black cat, my good luck charm, almost a week ago. I still miss him terribly. I made a Kid Pix drawing in remembrance.

I ported Thy Dungeonman to the Kaypro II some time ago. Hope this helps.

I've been pretty busy with work lately, but I've managed to get in some time on a silly personal software project. Today I spent some time on the most important part: the logo.

Spent some time in my happy place today: servicing some floppy drives.

The longest streak I ever got playing the NYT Crossword before this was 12, and that was years ago, so I have no idea how this happened.

It's not march any more, but I needed to be creative somehow, so I made a couple more. "Life in the Canyon" and "Timepiece"

As you may well surmise from my feed, I enjoy technology both old and new, but modern AI just doesn't seem to appeal to me. I was looking through some old backups, though, and it appears that I was into AI back then.

For today's #marchintosh Kid Pix doodle, we're back in brilliant color! This one is titled "Dueling Serenades."

I really like the effect I got on the river. Too bad the background is so frenetic.

I've been in a bit of a funk lately for *gestures broadly* reasons.

But I managed a couple more Kid Pix doodles for #marchintosh on the powerbook. "Bringing a Gift to One's Beau" (nearly the maximum filename character limit) and "Portals" which is the first one to take as long as it looks like.

In celebration of putting together a working battery for my Powerbook 170 for #Marchintosh, I used it for today's Kid Pix doodle. That's why it's in black and white.

In celebration of March 15, well, you see the subject matter.

I skipped out on the last 2 days, so did 2 today to partly catch up on Kid Pix doodles for #marchintosh.

These are titled "Day at the Park" and "Disco Cactus". See if you can figure out which is which.

The parts are all here! Now just to figure out how to turn this into a Powerbook battery while it's still #marchintosh outside.

Today (Tuesday)'s #marchintosh Kid Pix doodle: "Morning Coffee"

I don't actually drink coffee. This is just how I imagine it feels like to be a cactus.

Today's #marchintosh Kid Pix art: "Lost in the Neon City"

It's definitely interesting working with only 1 level of undo.

Yesterday's drawing, titled "Surveying the Nest." You can get some wild patterns by combining the checkerboard mixer with the scrolling mixer.
I do find it interesting that the bird has brought a worm to a bunch of eggs. Maybe it expects them to hatch soon? Or maybe it's just a snack for itself.
March 10, 2025 at 5:37 AM
Also for #Marchintosh, I've been making a single stupid Kid Pix drawing every day, just for fun. Here's one I titled "End Times."

One of the easiest things, of course, is buying more stuff. To that end, I got a couple of SCSI adapters and a BlueSCSI to make the mother of all Wi-Fi dongles.

First project: I recently acquired a Powerbook 170 in very good condition. The listing on eBay mentioned recapping the power supply and fixing the hinges, so I knew it was coming from someone who cares.

But I'd like to make it truly portable again, and upgrade some things.

I did it. I bought the floppy disks.

Rule number 1 of owning a classic Mac is that you need to rename the hard drive. This is my latest.

Came across this gem while going through a bunch of old floppy disks, most of which were unsalvageable. Surprised this survived.
