It is absolutely okay for white kids (and adults) to cosplay as black characters! That's how you get the good Halloween candy if you come by my house. Just leave the blackface alone and stick to costumes and wigs and everybody's good to go.

Last thing. I had a white mom come up to me in a comic shop many moons ago and stated how much her daughter loved Storm and if I thought it was okay for her to dress up as Storm for Halloween. Me, an idiot, thought she wanted to know if Storm was a heroine to emulate or an evil character.

And this is not me saying that you are only allowed to create or enjoy what is within your culture. I love me some cross-pollination. But in some places you are at home and in some places you are an honored guest. And in both places you need to act appropriately and not be a dick.
