I should add I enjoyed this book so much I bought a copy (the one here is from the library) for my own library. The beginning and end read more smoothly than the middle discussing the fire and its telling. Definitely recommend taking notes as you read, they proved helpful for me.

What I mean by sympathy is his notion of being sympathetic to parties since we know the outcome of events. Something I am thinking about quite a bit for my own teaching today.
