I submitted 11 311 tickets on the bike lane being blocked with snow piles or drivers parked in the bike lane on 6 blocks of Mass Av. Bikers are dealing with this all over the city. If the city doesn't plow parking then tow cars parked in the bike lane @wutrain.bsky.social

Comm Ave now has a bike lane again thanks to the effort of this volunteer crew!

This is just one street, and we don't have the plows that the city has. Let's get this done city-wide!

Are you annoyed by Boston's snow covered bike lanes?

It's now been well over a week since Boston's snowstorm, and yet most protected bike lanes are unusable because of the snow.

Help us shovel Commonwealth Ave's PBLs and show that this work is an urgent need!

IF THE CITY WON'T, WE WILL! Help shovel Commonwealth Ave with the BCU
In the weeks following record snowfall in Boston, several protected bike lanes have remained entirely impassable despite 311 requests and direct notifications. When protected lanes are not cleared, people are forced into traffic or prevented from traveling safely at all. This creates immediate and avoidable safety risks, particularly on Commonwealth Ave, where students and residents from Allston, Brighton, and Brookline commute daily, making it one of the highest bike traffic corridors in the city. To reduce the risk of injury, BCU is organizing a small, time-limited effort to clear snow and ice from one priority corridor while continuing to press the City for consistent, systemic maintenance. This action is intended not a substitute for the City’s responsibility to maintain public infrastructure, but as a reminder to them that this is desperately needed. We are inviting partners who are able to: Volunteer time to help shovel and clear the lane, and/or Assist with documenting the conditions and the work (photos or short videos) We will provide clear guidance on safety, messaging, and coordination so the effort remains focused, disciplined, and aligned with shared values around public safety and accountability. We will be meeting at 3pm at Babcock and Commonwealth Ave and start moving eastward. We will conclude our shoveling at 7pm. We appreciate your continued partnership and shared commitment to safer, more reliable streets for everyone who bikes in Boston—year-round. In solidarity, Tiffany Cogell Boston Cyclists Union
