Lots of great comics in this bundle.
This might be the best Humble Bundle I’ve ever seen. Just a loaded collection of comics from a loaded time at Image.
In the early hours after Halloween of 1988, four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls uncover the most important story of all time in Paper Girls Vol 1 - 6.

You don't need to read Doctor Strange of Asgard to appreciate the new series that just launched. But it shows interesting insights into the moral core and ethics of the good doctor:

Kudos to @dereklandy.bsky.social, Carlos Magna, Espen Grundetjern, and Cory Petit

The Power Fantasy is simply one of the best explorations of moral philosophy (aka normative ethics) in comics. Check out my ethics primer and introduction to the series:

I typically do a terrible job of promoting myself online. But I have received some encouraging feedback from comic creators, quoted in the post below:

With my gratitude and appreciation for all you do in creating such amazing stories and art!

Ever wonder how our brains make moral decisions? No comic tie-in this week, but I summarize the latest cutting-edge neuroscience research. Outstanding recent work by @wimdeneys.bsky.social has given a whole new perspective on thinking fast and slow.

Following great examples of care ethics in comics (@kellysue.bsky.social #fmlcomix and @jedmackay.bsky.social #moonknight), here is a deep dive on care ethics:

I was previously critical of X-Manhunt, but use it here to show a lot of the positive aspects of caring

Thanks for the shout-out and link. 😁 I should make this quote my new site description!
"Comics Philosophy has quietly been doing some fun stuff – it’s looking at comics characters through the filter of actual philosophy and arguing the moral systems characters seem to follow."

FML comix by @kellysue.bsky.social @davidlopez.bsky.social Cris Peters @claytoncowles.bsky.social @laurennmcc.bsky.social is a hilarious, heartfelt and educational read. It expertly blends 3 virtue ethics theories: care ethics, Stoicism and Buddhism:

Why be moral? Turns out this is a harder ethics question to answer than it might seem:

@manruss.bsky.social wrote a great comic as part the A.X.E.: Judgment Day event describing the 3 main how-to theories.

1985, 16 years old, read one of the most philosophical and humanist comics, by Peter Gillis, of my favorite character. Shows great compassion and understanding, with an essay on sacrifice and moral advice almost straight from Jeremy Bentham. The complete opposite of the Secret Wars II series.

Ever wonder if AI could do your job?

I put that to the test for my comic philosophy site, to see how AI chatbots fare in describing the normative ethics of comic characters:

The results were interesting (spoiler alert: they still lose).

Marvel's Fantastic Four are more than a superhero team, they are a family. Great example of relational ethics like Confucianism. I also explore the ethics of the individual members: comicphilosophy.com/index.php/20...

My follow-up X-Men character ethics post: comicphilosophy.com/index.php/20...
Great examples of care ethics, moral relativism, moral particularism, and even amorality. Lots of interesting character development over the years, by many great creative teams.

My first dozen X-Men character ethics profiles are up: comicphilosophy.com/index.php/20...
Lots of greater writers over the years, and many thoughtful approaches to revise and rehabilitate in recent years (in keeping with modern ethics perspectives).
