A little over 2 years ago, while looking through the 19th-century Discord, I found this drawing by the artist Wings & Strings and quickly said, Well, this is horrid; let's make it. And so after the elapse of 2 years, she's done. A huge thank you to them for the inspiration.

The first order of business for the day was moving Florida & Alabama RR 18 out of her spot in the roundhouse to make way for 1355's tender. Here we see a few volunteers (including myself behind the phone camera) putting the 1355's pilot ruck bearing back on. For all you non-volunteers who are still railroad enthusiasts, the brass bearings weigh about 40 pounds apiece and must be oiled to be put in place. (Shit is not fun.) and the Big Show 1355 outside for the first time since the restoration was announced; the work done on her this time around was removing her blast nozzle, petticoat pipe, and some of her superheater fuels. 1355, now lacking her tender

On this month's episode of restoring it and running it on the mainline
After removing the headlight for the first time in 33 years, the smoke box door followers suit Here is 1355 without her smoke box front, letting the general public see her petticoat pipe, superheater, branch pipes, and all of her fuels. Her smokebox plate is off the locomotive for the first time in 33 years, and we are waiting for its door to be put back on so we can display it. 1355's headlight: nothing much to say; it's neat.
