Keeping an eye on Maine's senior senator and Maine politics since 2006. Send tips/thoughts to [email protected]. susancollinswatch.substack.com
Yeah, no.

Susan Collins ran a transparently antisemitic campaign in 2020. She trotted out vile medieval anti-Jewish tropes over and over to right wing audiences: tinyurl.com/22rb6jj7

She's never apologized. She's never taken responsibility.

Spare us the fake solidarity. #MEpolitics

Susan Collins thinks it's so important for this guy to continue to have a vote in the Senate that she's sent him $10,000 in the last year alone.

How many deranged, gutter bigots have you sent five-figure contributions to this year? #MEpolitics

OK probably a different Paul Mills.

Took us down a rabbit hole, however: Didn't realize Janet Mills endorsed her Republican brother against the incumbent Dem governor in 2005. tinyurl.com/4chkw8jk #MEpolitics

To spell this out: Susan Collins and Angus voted to kill a DHHS rule that'd limit public comment/notices about agency actions. (As you can probably guess, it's almost certainly not going to pass.)

That's very different from 'rebuking' RFK Jr. But it's at the top of PPH's home page. WTF? #MEpolitics

This headline is literally and patently false. @pressherald.com is a mess, at least on anything that touches Susan Collins. #MEpolitics @joelawlorph.bsky.social

Just as bad from Maine Public. And no acknowledgment that they published a story just a couple days ago -- by the same reporter! -- forecasting a different outcome.

Total contempt for their own readers/listeners. #MEpolitics

Not much better from Portland Press Herald.

It's almost like everyone's reading off of the same (Susan Collins-supplied) script. #MEpolitics

Yesterday a poll came out showing Graham Platner in trouble with older voters and female voters...and now he's wearing a suit and throwing shade at Sen. John Fetterman.

What a difference a day makes? #MEpolitics

Naturally, the local NBC affiliate's headline on the ACA votes highlights that Susan Collins voted FOR extending the subsidies while omitting the fact that she also voted AGAINST extending them.

This is how we got here. #MEpolitics
December 11, 2025 at 9:17 PM
Looking forward to press coverage of Susan Collins votes today to both kill ACA tax credits/send premiums soaring AND to extend those very same tax credits.

What are the chance that even one article in the beltway or Maine press so much as hints at the incoherence of her tired shtick? #MEpolitics

In a healthy media ecosystem, Susan Collins gaslighting @mainepublic.org into telling readers nearly the opposite of the truth (Collins ultimately voted for the same bill as King) would prompt some reflection and corrective action.

Not holding our breath. #MEpolitics @stevemistler.bsky.social

After voting to kill the ACA subsidies and spending the week trashing the Dems clean bill, Susan Collins turns around and backs their extension.

Redux of her Hegseth vote: Collins waits till the GOP has the votes they need and only does the 'right' thing when it won't make a difference. #MEpolitics
December 11, 2025 at 6:38 PM
Neither this headline nor the article -- from less than three weeks ago! -- make any mention of these new conditions from Susan Collins.

Almost seems like she's coming up with last minute, ad hoc excuses to side with GOP against something she supposedly supported. tinyurl.com/zwhtzyjr #MEpolitics

If only she knew someone who could do something about it. #MEpolitics
December 11, 2025 at 1:16 PM
Reminder: As recently as two days ago @mainepublic.org strongly implied that Susan Collins would vote AGAINST an extension.

After she previously said she was for it.

And now it's anybody's guess.

No one -- neither Collins nor the Maine press -- is covering themselves in glory here. #MEpolitics

We don't do endorsements...but you people have no idea how close we are to launching a 'Don't Rank Nepo Angus' super PAC. #MEpolitics
December 10, 2025 at 11:06 PM
Oy. For the primary questions they only polled 318 folks which is on the low side. But check out the support by age. Pretty stark! #MEpolitics
December 10, 2025 at 5:49 PM
New independent poll has Mills +10% over Platner in the primary. These things sure are all over the map!

Not sure why you'd poll likely *general election* voters rather than likely *primary* voters...but anyway this is one more data point to throw into the mix. tinyurl.com/334z3a5p #MEpolitics
December 10, 2025 at 5:30 PM
Portland Press Herald can't get enough of the Mills/Platner race...as long as the story has absolutely nothing to do with public policy.

Mainers deserve better. So embarrassing. #MEpolitics
December 10, 2025 at 1:32 AM
Such BS spin from Portland Press Herald. Worse than useless.

If Susan Collins really supported extending the ACA tax credits she would've come out in favor of a clean extension.

That she hasn't done so -- and put out a different DOA plan 2 days before the vote -- says it all. Sheesh. #MEpolitics
December 10, 2025 at 12:58 AM
Still unclear if Susan Collins'll vote for or against extending ACA tax credits -- something she said she backed. @mainepublic.org implies she's a 'no' vote but the article was a bit fuzzy.

In a healthy media ecosystem, this kinda nonsense would get scrutiny. #MEpolitics @stevemistler.bsky.social

There's a reason that we call Bangor Daily News a Susan Collins fanzine. #MEpolitics
December 9, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Genuinely ridiculous how desperate Portland Press Herald is to avoid writing about policy disagreements between the candidates. #MEpolitics
December 9, 2025 at 3:42 PM
Oy. Super gross and offensive.

In truth Susan Collins voted to *open* ANWR to drilling in her 2017 tax bill vote. (After running on opposing drilling.)

A symbolic vote last week -- that she knew would fail -- doesn't change this.

Publicly supporting Collins means lying and deceiving. #MEpolitics

A little late? Check out this 2019 article: "Trump’s trade war squeezes the juice out of Maine’s wild blueberry business" tinyurl.com/38jsnb6h

Susan Collins could actually stand up for Maine. Instead, she's spent Trump's terms studiously avoiding doing so. #MEpolitics
