Playing some TGM2+ at Monte near Osaka station. Every time I come here I'm amazed it hasn't been closed. Check it out while you still can.

The Nara Hard Off just got a little more exciting

And here's YUMMY.BIN, a hidden image on the 8-bit Apple version of TASS TIMES IN TONETOWN of a hapless programmer being decapitated. Seems to be a recurring theme.

Here's some fun stuff! If you type BURGER at the first screen of TASS TIMES IN TONETOWN, you get instantly decapitated.

Let's talk about the late great Becky Heineman and some hidden easter eggs! I grew up playing her games (Bard's Tale!) and her impossible Apple IIGS ports (Out of this World, Wolfenstein 3D!). I remember getting to interview her when I was reviewing her IIGS remake of Ultima I...

"Yo Becky, wishing you the best! Also, we're hungry."

Here's a copy of the Apple II 8-bit version I pulled out of the junk bin at BEEP

I've been playing Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 as my zoneout game, and was like "oh cool, cross-platform saves!" and got a second-hand PS5 copy for 10 bucks. After all of the drama of account linking, here is the punchline

Always check the unlabeled junk discs because you never know when you might strike g...oh never mind

A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE is pretty awesome (and accurate), but I'm not too certain that it sticks the ending. I absolutely adore Katherine Bigelow and can't get enough of thermonuclear nightmare fiction (my brain is broken). Tracy Letts delivers an awesome performance as the general.

NEO TURF MASTERS FINALLY ON SALE, THIS IS NOT A DRILL

Consider this your yearly reminder to watch CHINA STRIKE FORCE / SPY_N featuring 90s J-Phone model Norika Fujiwara and Coolio playing, yes, Coolio

At one point Norika actually says "Coolio killed my partner."

Also Mark Dacascos and Aaron Kwok!!!

Also, the scaling on the tutorial window in vertical mode is such that you can't read the text on Switch (thanks, 720p...)

Sorry to be such a complainer, I actually do love your game!

Yeah! Yeah! Kick him in the Nalds!

I have come into the possession of the Yamaha PAS Crew, the King of Mom Bikes, which is capable of scaling the 37% grade of Kuragari Pass (the steepest public road in Japan). So on tonight's midnight test drive I totally rode this shit up the closest mountain. I barely broke a sweat.

RIP Drew Struzan. Watch the documentary about him, your jaw will be on the floor when you get to the part where he has to make last minute edits to the ADVENTURE IN BABYSITTING poster. Personal favorite: DuckTales.

OH SHIT this month's Japan McDonald's Happy Meal toys are Plarail trains, and one of them is mothafuckin 🟡 DR. YELLOW 🟡 the Shinkansen diagnostic train

Also the decal sheet for this is a nightmare. Super skinny stickers and impossible to reaffix once contact is made

Still, mothafuckin DR. YELLOW 🚄

AW YISS I finally cleared normal mode on TGM 2 like the rank amateur I am, playing at Monte 50 in Osaka whose classic collection seems to degrade with every time I visit. Pretty sure machines that are 50 yen a play are not paying for their own maintenance. (Also there's a Neo Turf Masters!)

EXIT 18: THE MOVIE review

After about 25 minutes of jerky first-person camera movement and non-stop spinning around the main character, my wife was covered in sweat and had to leave the theater to vomit spectacularly. I will come back and see this later. SCORE: TBD
