"Make America Great Again" by letting domestic manufacturers remake the Yugo, a car known for being cheap with poor drivability and poor emissions.

How about you start with the Trump admin and work your way backwards instead of starting 10+ years ago and trying to work forward.

I think people doing "they're equally bad" arguments are at best disingenuous and at worst outright morons. The argument is in bad faith and doesn't need to be entertained.

It's like countries that don't bother with turnstiles on public transportation and instead do random checks with massive fines. The random check is more than enough of a threat to prevent most people from cheating the system. A few people might take advantage but it's actually more efficient.

Obama wasn't even the *last* President so why bother calling him out? Singling him out is dumb and plays into the distraction.
December 3, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Pretending that Obama was the last US executive to enable poor choices in regards to military actions around the world is being ignorant of just about every President that came before him and completely ignores significant atrocities like My Lai and the bombing of Dresden.
December 3, 2025 at 9:11 PM
It's meant to distract from the matter at hand. The response to "Obama did x" is simply "The US has committed atrocities in the past, we have learned from the past and should be focused on preventing atrocities starting with this administration."

If you crash the economy, home prices will go down. Of course, then people will also not be able to afford things.
December 3, 2025 at 6:29 PM
They're not of equal importance. We could litigate slavery while we're at it or we could focus on the matter at hand.
December 3, 2025 at 5:56 PM
I hear the US did a lot of bad things during Vietnam too, we should definitely focus on past bullshit instead of the stuff at hand.

The "war on terror" was a waste and Guantanamo is still open. Doesn't mean the Trump admin should get away with murdering fishermen.

My counterpoint is that if the people who treat politics as sports just got into sports instead we'd all be better off. The outcome of sports has far less bearing on society than the outcome of politics.

I would guess there's a lot of overlap between people who complain about kids being coddled and people who complain when a kid gets 0/25 on a writing assignment.

Here's the article assigned:

Here's the grading criteria. I don't think there's a lot of points to be found in their response.

"Correlation is not causation" is not the same as "correlation is never causation" and it seems like you're conflating the two.

The first clearly means that correlation by itself is not sufficient.

There's a whole website to illustrate that: www.tylervigen.com/spurious-cor...
Spurious Correlations
Correlation is not causation: thousands of charts of real data showing actual correlations between ridiculous variables.

That guy claims to be a grad student and when told he should spend more time researching the issue (literally the most important skill graduate school should be teaching you), he blocked me 😆
November 26, 2025 at 5:54 PM
If you're a grad student you should be spending your time researching low income urban food deserts to better understand the issues instead of claiming Walmart delivery is the solution.

It was that but there was an anti-incombency factor after 12 years of Republican presidents, plus Clinton being from Arkansas and Gore from Tennessee, so some support from areas you wouldn't normally get.

Clinton was also "cooler" than Bush, so a lot of little factors in play.

NASA has discovered 6,000 planets outside our solar system. 200 billion trillion estimated stars in the universe.

Based on the sample size we know vs the full sample, highly unlikely we're rare.
