Double-digit run complete. He was getting bored with the usual route, so I mixed it up. Was worried we wouldn’t get our mileage. Turned out to be perfect. Plus we had a good pace. Just need to stay consistent. #running #ultramarathon #runchat #huskylife #dogsofbluesky

Not our best night. Didn’t realize until about half way through that my watch wasn’t going. He was super distracted. So much so that he ran into a light pole because he was so focused on what was behind him. Don’t worry. He’s fine. #Running #runchat #ultramarathon #huskylife #dogsofbluesky

Unexpected for sure. My wife blew a tire crewing me at my last ultra. The race guide mentions the potential for flat tires. This was a little more than just a flat.

A quite chilly fall morning. 42°F (~6°C) and I resisted the urge to wear 8 layers to keep warm. He of course loved it. Not a great first week of training, but we at least got out there. Plenty of time to get better. #running #ultramarathon #runchat #huskylife #dogsofbluesky

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how well prepared you are, things just don’t work out. After 16hrs & 62mi, I made the decision to drop. Between cramps & vomiting, I knew I physically didn’t have 20 more hours & 62 more miles. Disappointing for sure, but an opportunity to get better. #Running #RunChat
