Socialism is "unrealistic", they say, and "would never work", but Capitalism is out here ineptly, but persistently, and publicly, trying to murder us all.

I also happen to be one quarter Finnish, so I've got some personal connections there already; it's both weird and fun to come at my family's culture sideways from a cow town puppet show.

The Kalevala: The story of how a geriatric super-powerful song-slinging wizard just can't seem to get laid, and his brother from another mother can't tell the difference between wasps and bees and now everyone has to suffer for it.

By the way, however weird you think The Day The Earth Froze is, the folklore it's based on (The Kalevala) is SO much weirder! Like, if anything, the film really dials back the crazy. Leminkinen isn't even the main character, that's Vainamoinen, who's mostly sidelined in TDTEF.

But I absolutely adore the Russo-Finnish quartet: The Day the Earth Froze (Sampo), The Magic Voyage of Sinbad (Sadko), The Sword & The Dragon (Ilya Muromets), and Jack Frost (Morozko). And I adore the Coleman Francis trilogy: Red Zone Cuba, The Beast of Yucca Flats, and The Skydivers.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand: MST3K! It's hard to pick a single favorite for the same reason it's hard to pick a favorite stand alone movie: I like different things for different reasons.

He also wraps up most episodes with the usual like & subscribe pitch at the end. I really should make a fresh version, been using the old one for WAY too long.

The only puppet that has a significant presence and even riffs with us is Bobby Roquefort, a sapient wheel of blue cheese in a cowboy hat that likes to get high; he's basically a simple stick puppet made out of Styrofoam and googly eyes. You can see him on the right side of the bot cart up there.

By the way, I should mention this: the bots I've built by and large don't participate in the movie riffing. While we might be derivative of MST3K, we don't want to just rip them off.
