just so everyone is aware, a majority of the longer form writing I'm going to post will be in an alpha state. I plan on going back through and making more edits once the story is actually finished, then rereleasing the edited versions chapter by chapter.

Important shit that I’m still trying to learn.
I am begging you. Please learn about stress/discomfort tolerance. Practice raising it. You need this to survive. If someone online can ruin your day with a throwaway comment, you desperately need to understand discomfort tolerance and consciously, systematically build that shit. Also! Stress tolerance is such an important skill that having a learning disability in that area is a major symptom of a whole lot of other disabilities/mental illnesses! Struggling with it is a huge part of life! It sucks! Am I saying everyone with misophonia needs to listen to chewing noises all day? No. But you need to find ways to tolerate it enough that you don't treat others like shit if they make a mouth noise near you. No, you don't have to read the fic with your trigger tags. But you do need to be able to handle scrolling past the tags without being upset. It is hard! But not having it also makes you so so so easy to manipulate. That grandma is racist AF because her mom raised her to be uncomfortable around black people and she never fought that discomfort. Trans people make so many cis people uncomfortable and that discomfort turns into bigotry real fast. Letting your discomfort dictate your actions and beliefs about things is a great way to become a terrible person. Learn. Discomfort. Tolerance.

Despite this, they continue their kind gesture and motion for Kip to take the umbrella. The scene pulls out to show the two characters alone in the pouring rain, sharing in this moment of humanity together as Kip gingerly takes the umbrella. Mason’s boots splash in the water as they begin to walk away wordlessly. Kip scrambles to their feet shouting after her. “Ah! Um- wait, please! Let me thank you!” Page 26 : A digital comic page featuring colorful, anthropomorphic animals. Kip scurries after Mason, although Mason continues to look forward, not responding to Kip. They stutter, “It was really kind of you to do that! You really didn’t need to…!” The narration retorts over the next series of panels, “I had no interest in talking. I really thought I had everything figured out. My whole life laid out ahead of me. I got a good job offer straight out of university. Moved out of town for work. Paid for a studio apartment.” A graduation cap and book accompany the narration. Meanwhile, Kip continues to try to speak at Mason, with their speech bubbles being blocked by the characters and narration. They mention moving and having a place to stay in the midst of their frantic appreciation for Mason’s act of kindness. The narration concludes, “I had no friends or family around, and I didn’t need them. I was content living as I was. Day in, day out.” Kip finally calls out, “Um, my name’s Kip, by the way! And you… um…” They begin to trail off as Mason continues to walk off without them. Kip stops in their tracks. “Right, sorry,” before turning around to start walking the other way. “Well, thank you again. I’ll be on my way–” Their text abruptly ends.
