I wish I was able to just strap him in a car seat and go to the hospital when things didn't seem right... but also glad he has his own car and can drive himself, since I can't just drop on a dime at work (esp. since I bus!!)

Right?! I always do a quick turn to look behind me before I cross - and I shouldn't have to! If I had mobility issues, etc., it would be difficult. Drivers are 100% responsible here.

And if the woman was crossing in the same direction of the truck, it means the truck was behind her. Pedestrians can't have eyes in the backs of our heads. I've had many close calls from this. I hope she's doing ok.

Hopefully they do this on Vernon, too, because no matter how many "no through except bicycle" signs they have up, I have seen cars go straight all the way from Coburg-Quinpool (and VV).

I was crossing at Quinpool and Vernon last week, and luckily I was all the way across, because a Range Rover going straight on Quinpool decided last minute to turn right into Quingate Place, so fast that his tires squealed and I thought he was going to roll over! (no turn signal either)! :O
