As always the presentation by @salisburyfish.bsky.social was great! Using Single nuclei RNAseq data she identified genes that seems to explain why some salmonids (such as coho or pink) are resistant to sealice when others (Atlantic and chum) are susceptible

Have you heard about IPNv and salmonids? Maybe you know that there is a major QTL that was identified in A. Salmon in 2008/2009... Well this time there is major QTLs identified in rainbow trout for the same disease !

Back after coffee at #ISGAXV and another talk on feed efficiency, by Prof Peng Xu from Xiamen University. Using feeding stations inspired by the dry livestock world they developed an automatic real time model to measure individual feed intake in tanks and managed to improve FCR 🧬🖥️🐟

Very good presentation of Zhi Ye from Ocean University of China on using histone modifications markers to improve the accuracy of genomic selection in white leg shrimps. Using a BayesA model and SNPs located in histone modifications regions they improved GS accuracy by 5-7% compared to random SNP

We finaly got our follow up study on fine mapping of QTL associated with spontaneous malness in XX-rainbow trout out in PlosOne!

We finaly got our follow up study on fine mapping of QTL associated with spontaneous malness in XX-rainbow trout out in PlosOne!
