My guess is that the acceleration is due to an increase in the number of people looking to skim something for themselves by being middlemen. Charlie Kirk [spit] and TPA were like this. Well funded but not lobbyists, just grifters.

The Nuzzi thing is funny because, in reality, she is *exactly* what contemporary media outlets want: she's pretty; she's a brand; she gets attention; she has access to powerful men. They simply *do not give a shit* about the ethics part. Thing is, it's awkward just to say that straightforwardly.

There is no utility for LLMs in the way you describe when the business model demands that the content selected for the training set reflects the priorities of the company running the machine. There is no way that this doesn't make the problem of dis/misinformation worse
