The FDR thing has me thinking about Trump honoring Dorothy Day (he probably doesn’t know who she is but still…)
During a Black History Month gathering at the White House on Thursday, Trump promised to honor a number of African American figures in the proposed garden, the final site for which is being picked "now," he said. Trump said the garden will "honor hundreds of our greatest Americans to ever live." The list of honorees, first announced during Trump's previous term, includes several Catholic saints: St. Junípero Serra, St. John Neumann, St. Katharine Drexel, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, as well as several Catholics whose sainthood causes are ongoing: Venerable Fulton Sheen, Venerable Augustus Tolton, and Servant of God Dorothy Day.

Trump telling them to "stop with Epstein" is him taking their favorite toy away.

@jennfrey post about Helen Andrew’s Great feminization essay: True story: In 2005 when Larry Summers was fired I was one of the only grad students in my PhD program who thought it was total BS and thought everyone needed to get a grip. My grad program was overwhelmingly male. How does the author explain this? Certainly there was no great feminization of philosophy. Everyone was just liberal and from an Ivy League.

Nate Silver I've refrained from writing about Epstein. But now that I've taken the time to look at the data, I'm skeptical it's having much impact on Trump with his base. There's been no decline at all in Trump's approval ratings with Republicans, for instance. Is Epstein the new Russiagate? SILVER BULLETIN POLITICS Is Epstein the new Russiagate? In New Jersey and Virginia, deep blue states, they managed to nominate two national-security Dems who aggressively stand for nothing beyond poll-tested platitudes. So they should be cruising to victory, right? Instead Spanberger is barely ahead of a GOP nominee even Republicans think is a dud, and Mikie Sherrill is neck and neck in Jersey. gtfoh.

On Halloween, I watched The Wicker Man for the first time. I wasn’t expecting it to be so politically relevant. If you’re looking for a parable about fascism, I highly recommend!

There are no jump scares, as the echoes of the real world one notices in SummerIsle are frightening enough.
