Wow. Listen to this kid.

Yes, a KID.
Hey Megyn Kelly,

14-year-old Eloise would like a word:

“If my voice makes you uncomfortable, good…
because the minute adults start defending predators by defending the age of a child, you’re not protecting the truth, you’re protecting the predator.”

Sound up! 🔥🔊

What an incredible image! I could look at this for hours. I wonder what the rules were for hanging things out of your window - family crest, best tapestry?

H/t: @melindahaunton.bsky.social
This image is part of a detailed account of King Edward VI’s procession in 1547 from the Tower of London to the Palace of Westminster on the day before his coronation. Unique to this scene is its recording of the City, especially Cheapside with its goldsmiths’ shops.

A historic map - Topkapi Palace? - made from historic tiles! 😍

The way certain symbols and design patterns move around and are reused in different times and places fascinates me.
I have more pics! 😻

I do love historic tiles and these are exquisite! Click on the images for full effect ...
A day off, exploring Istanbul. Sun shone. Am most taken by these dog prints in a tile from c. 1650 in the Topkapi palace. And the tiles! And the mother of pearl inlays!

While this article might be UK‑specific, the warning signs are everywhere - academic freedom is increasingly under threat, and universities & research institutes must step up to resist intimidation.

Why threats to academic freedom are growing – and how universities can respond to intimidation
When scholarship is politically steered, the public loses access to evidence and the means to hold power to account.

Very interesting & often relatable interview:

"I found myself continually critiquing development practices… This critique of the practice in many ways led me to journalism because I was constantly questioning why things are the way they are… who allows injustices to continue, who wins & who loses?"

Resolving this took me 2 hours, and my New York colleague at least one hour.

Scale that up to all museum records and that's why there isn't more available digitally.

Support museum folks. Cite the collections data.
During audit week I found a record of a curious pigeon. It was from a collector (Mathews) and location (Queensland) that was entirely plausible, and the record was created before 2004. Sounds easy, right?

I couldn't find it.
