#AcademicPublishing is breaking: platform lock-in, proprietary formats, opaque systems and processes. I made draft #Scholarly #Lexicons to show how #ATproto infrastructure can fix this, with portable identities, immutable provenance, and open standards that can serve the *entire* research community.

Anisota is an experimental radical social media app for Bluesky/ATProto. There is no scrolling and you’re forced to log off regularly due to running out of “in-game stamina”.

It’s independently created by a queer artist from Appalachia, not a silicon valley backed tech startup.

Try it: anisota.net

Wait this is actually perfect for something I wanted to do with popf… nope nope nope no more features only QA 😭
If I had to hack my way around it I would do this:
1. Every subreddit is a repo
2. Use a mod lexicon in that repo to assign mods, roles, and rules.
3. Membership stored in the users repo
4. In case of repo del give users the option to submit posts to another repo, votes and comments transfer over.

Very difficult problem since atproto doesn’t support multi user repos, though not a fan of this solution for obvious reasons. What I’ve learned is that the beauty of the open web is that it gives the users the power to “nuke” their communities but also allows those affected to “re-home” their posts.
Interesting choice in the schema for nooki.me ! collectively owned things are hard to model in atproto, even without any notions of shared privacy. I think a pattern that might be useful over time is rich multi-user access controls to a given pds.
