This is a good question. Reuters reports Trump admin has hired 50,000 workers, primarily in immigration enforcement.

For context, that's equivalent to the total number of job losses in Health & Human Services, Veterans Affairs, USAID and Interior COMBINED, per the Partnership for Public Service

It's also crazy that this is happening in places seen as "climate refuges" or as not susceptible to extreme weather: some of the highest rates are in Minnesota, apparently on account of increasing hail claims.

The swamp was full of thin filamentous ice this morning, something I've never seen before. Apparently called "hair ice," only forms on rotting wood under narrow temp/humidity conditions, in the presence of a certain species of fungus! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_ice
