I caught a couple of Ruby Throated Hummingbirds in flight yesterday while they were chasing each other. Pretty cool moment to capture.

A Mallard from this evening's walk. It's getting quiet out there with most birds migrated away.

So, tiny announcement…

one of the things I’ve been working on recently is “The REAL landscapes of Minneapolis” 2026 wall calendar.

I love this city and these images are all from the past 12 months:

The images in this first annual calendar are created to highlight the beauty of my hometown of Minneapolis. There have been countless column inches devoted to issues here, however those columns do not...

This little beauty is a juvenile black crowned night heron. When I see them, I wonder how a creature can be so perfect. How can they fit in this world so beautifully? As I photograph it, I whisper to them that I hope they live a long life and Godspeed. #photography #wildlife #birds #EastCoastKin

Green Heron wondering if it made a mistake landing so close to the camera...it did and flew away seconds after this.

So I've noticed that my white feathered bird photos tend to get more engagement than any other color of bird. It is the difficulty of not overexposing the shot? Do people just love white feathered birds that much? Just curious as to why that is.

I saw around 30 Trumpeter Swans this morning, but most were far away in the Minnesota River Valley. Luckily a pair flew somewhat close to me for this shot.
