AuDHD, enjoy reading fantasy, sci-fi, and policy stuff. Education researcher and working on my PhD. He/him.

Currently Reading: Sunrise on the Reaping, Jade City
My new take on The Rock’s acting career is that it failed when he didn’t realize that him singing Shake It Off was exactly the sort of thing he should embrace.

It’s always interesting how the “don’t insult your opponents if you want to win elections” people ignore that 2 out of the last 3 elections were won by a guy defined by insulting everybody, even his own supporters.

My favorite post on LinkedIn has become the “I’ve figured out the way to disrupt education and nobody else has”, and it’s paying someone a ton to meet with your student once to twice a week to either tutor them or provide college guidance. Oh, and they have an AI say they should do it.

A force based Palpatine deck seems increasingly viable.
Two big In-Aspect pieces revealed today for Qui-Gon.

Lots of other stuff as well but these two are absolutely bonkers.

The Qui-Gon deck is going to be so strong out of the box, but even more unbelievable when he hits Premiere.

Education research feels like repeatedly asking the question “what do we need to help students”, getting the answer “money/resources”, and then watching as that is just ignored.

I increasingly wonder how to do contract/consulting work for research. Having a full time job should mean no stress for finances, but that seems not the case….

I'll be very frank and say simply that: Your freedom and liberation lies in the freedom and liberation of Black women.
I make one post daring to center Black women-- and responses are like -- "ITS ALL GROUPS!"

And y'all wonder why we are in the mess that we are in. It's not just the right-wing getting pissed off at Black women centering ourselves.

A lot of y'all need to tighten up.

QUICKLY.

Actually got caught up rewatching this. I now have two or three pause points when I have it in the background just because I’m a parent now and wasn’t in the theatre when it came out.
it's also one of those movies that i do think is unlocked in a very particular way for people who are parents or who became parents between viewings

To be honest, most business minds are not actually great at running businesses/seeing the value in long term planning.

Added these to my tbr on the strength of the covers alone, any additional information is just icing on top.
if you’re looking for a dragon book, PLEASE read Kamilah Cole’s Divine Traitor’s duology. about two sisters who would burn the world down for each other, only if the empires scrambling for power don’t burn it all first.

i cannot overstate how good these books are. YA fantasy is lucky to have them.

1) The Sonic movie is surprisingly fun to watch and works well for background while researching.
2) I now have to write a semi-structured interview question set, and I'm not 100% if I remember how to do so.

In today’s dissertation work, we ask the question…do I really have to cite things? I just want to say “here’s the theory, tada”.

I know I have to, but, I don’t want to. 😔

This year marked the sixth in a row where the 1.5 million children in Lebanon faced significant disruptions to schooling as education has been hit especially hard amid several crises, including the recent fighting with Israel.
'We have a lost generation': Lebanon's education crisis
At least 500 public schools in Lebanon, roughly one in two in what is a badly underfunded sector, were converted into shelters in recent months to house people.

One thing to note, Biden pardoning his son is not a win for people just because it makes people mad. And the fact that so many posts are talking about it as a "we're fighting back!" moment is probably why Dem messaging is so bad consistently.

One person's life was improved by the pardon, that's it.

I'm stoned so yk but the pro-blocking culture is the first evidence I've ever seen of a social media site having a cultural bias toward safety for marginalized ppl. We have to accept so much shit irl. Here it's like "nah" and you're not asked to take responsibility for their emotions over it

I suppose I will do two to both catch up and make sure I don’t forget in my short break in the morning:

1) I’m in education research, primarily focused on financial, cultural, and social supports for more inclusive and supportive structures for excluded students.

My personal comfort books seem to be “I needed to get away from something so I picked up this random career and found a new family”. And now I want to open a book store and coffee shop.

I’ve been enjoying The Self-Same Metal by Brittany Williams a lot. I feel like I’m missing a bit of the source of magic, but more in a it wasn’t meant to be immediately apparent to me type of way 📚💙

I enjoy how often I hear AI pitches which are “and if you can get the people we are trying to replace to provide data and improve the tool, that would be great!” with no hint of the irony or cruelty. Just wonderful people really.

One my bigger regrets is how little connection I’ve carried over from grad school and people there. I’ve spent so much of my life on education, and the number of personal connections I have from it is so low.

X was literally valued at 20% of what it was worth a month ago compared to when he bought it.

I appreciate he lost billions and somehow that’s a bragging point for him.
