I analyze Microsoft's best standing ever (#3) in the new Axios Harris poll to argue that the numbers over the past few years show how bad security news over the past couple of years hurt their reputation and that recently doing the right things has helped.

Sharing this out without comment or opinion. This is a big change for nonprofits and so many of us work with nonprofits that it's good to raise awareness now since there's a deadline for this in two months.

Regeneron is buying 23 and Me and your data in bankruptcy.

I would download my data and delete it now. There's no information on how that data will be used.

Without clarity around data a preemptive cautionary step is smart.

From 2023 through today, the technology industry has laid off 470,000. As context, that's about the population of Omaha, Nebraska.

Think of it as the industry has laid off Omaha in the past two years.

This is actually a pretty smart and simple trick, abusing the update process.

This is another one where now that someone has thought of it, I'm surprised no one thought of this angle sooner.

An excellent example of "right sizing" of technology.

Sometimes an older technology turns out to be the better technology.

Next up: bring back tactile keyboards on mobile devices.
Next year, the EU will require cars to have buttons & dials -- not just touchscreens -- to get a top safety rating.

This is a great move. Drivers can fiddle with knobs & buttons without taking their eyes off the road, but they can't do that with touchscreens.

(Even better: Tesla will hate this)
Cars will need fewer screens and more buttons to earn five-star safety rating in Europe
Euro NCAP will release new testing guidelines in 2026.
