U.S. Senator from Connecticut.
The fix is in.

Ghislaine Maxwell, transferred to a club med prison after Trump's lawyer met with her (and she likely spilled what she knows about Trump), is now being waited on "hand and foot" by guards and is getting her commutation application ready with help from the warden.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

Standing up to a tyrant - who is willing to impose pain as leverage to compel loyalty or acquiescence - is hard. You can convince yourself that yielding stops the pain and brings you back to "normal".

But there is no "normal". Submission emboldens the tyrant. The threat grows.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

Bullies gain power when their misconduct succeeds in causing righteous people to yield in the face of wrongdoing. That’s why voting for Trump's continuing resolution - without any protection against his health care cuts or his growing illegality - is a mistake.

I voted NO.

So here's where we are, Sunday morning:

Trump is trying to starve hungry kids in order to bully Democrats into abandoning our fight against health care premium increases.

So Trump is starving kids in order to deny families health care.

Dystopian.

This is, unsurprisingly, nonsensical. Is he suggesting eliminating health insurance and giving people a few thousand dollars instead? And then when they get a cancer diagnosis they just go bankrupt?

He is so unserious. That's why we are shut down and Americans know it.
November 8, 2025 at 4:40 PM
Trump is sending our economy into free fall and his solution is to throw millions of Americans off their health care this fall.
November 7, 2025 at 10:02 PM
Yes we are offering a compromise. Just a simple one year extension. No bells and whistles. So Americans don’t see devastating rate hikes - rates doubling in many cases - this holiday season.

Now Republicans just need to say yes and the government reopens.
November 7, 2025 at 10:01 PM
The Tuesday election was a message to Democrats to keep fighting. People are scared at what Trump is doing to their lives and our democracy. And they desperately want the opposition party to stand up to him, not willingly get run over.
November 7, 2025 at 9:55 PM
As people go onto the health care enrollment websites, and see that Trump has doubled their premium, the pressure on Republicans to fix this will mount. This isn't get easier for Republicans. It's getting harder.
November 7, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Trump’s economy suuuuucks.
🚨 CNBC: "Announced corporate job cuts surging past 1 million so far this year, with 153,000 new layoffs just in October according to Challenger. That is the worst October since 2003."
November 6, 2025 at 3:19 PM
I launched the American Mobilization Project because the fight can’t wait until 2028 or even 2026. AMP channels thousands of small contributions to anti-Trump mobilization all over the country.

1/ A few groups funded by AMP had big wins last night.
They want us to feel powerless, but we have real power.
AMP’s goal is to supercharge deep organizing and mobilize as many Americans as possible by investing in the state and local organizations already doing this work on the ground.

Good morning.

Last night was a referendum on Trump's corruption, cruelty, and chaos.

But it's also not a coincidence these big wins came at the exact moment when Democrats are using our power to stand for something and be strong.

A huge risk to not learn that lesson.

Brand new data:

Republicans blamed for the shutdown (+12) and for health care premiums going up (+28!!).

These are stunning numbers. Republicans aren't immune from the pressure this creates.

Time to press our advantage. Stand for what we believe in.
November 5, 2025 at 2:14 PM
Trump saying the country turned against Republicans because they shut down the government.

Feels relevant.
November 5, 2025 at 9:51 AM
The shift in Connecticut tonight is seismic. Possibly unprecedented. Loads of towns flipped from Republican to Democratic control.

A partial list:

Ansonia
Bethany
Branford
Bristol
Brooklyn
East Granby
Ellington
Enfield
Farmington
Milford
New Britain
New Fairfield
Norwich
Plymouth
Rocky Hill

This one shouldn't get lost tonight.
November 5, 2025 at 9:50 AM
Populist Dems won. Moderate Dems won. We won in blue states. We won in purple states.

Maybe the take is that (a) people think Trump is out of control; and (b) people like Dems when we're taking a stand and fighting for what we believe in - as we have been for the last month.
November 5, 2025 at 2:35 AM
Protecting people's health care is worth fighting for. Stopping our health care system from going into a death spiral is worth fighting for. People want Democrats to stand for something.
November 4, 2025 at 11:50 PM
No place in the country will feel more pain from Trump’s premium increases than Florida. In many parts of the state, 20% of families get their health care from the ACA. The stories were gut wrenching.
November 4, 2025 at 12:45 AM
It's been a few days since Trump announced his "deal" with Xi. It's now clear that Trump got fleeced. America gave up lots and got nothing.

It's a story you should know bc few things matter more than the U.S.-China relationship.

Hey I just got to Miami with @smith.senate.gov @warren.senate.gov because South Florida is going to be hit harder by Trump’s health care cost increases than any other part of the nation. We are here to hear stories from the people whose lives will be ruined and want us to FIGHT for them.
November 3, 2025 at 5:56 PM
Donald Trump is trying to bully us into silence. He’s abusing his power to create a censorship state.

But tomorrow voters in New Jersey, Virginia and all across the nation will show up and make clear - we will not be ruled. The people are still in charge.
