Australia’s perfectly easy to accommodate in a US World Cup. Just not the earlier time slots. I still think it’s purely about size. Every game is going to sell out anyway, so you don’t need to stress about immigrant communities, which exist in every host city for every team anyway.

I think what they're actually doing is more making sure that the big teams play in the biggest stadium in each slot, not necessarily that concerned with timing.

Are they genuinely kicking off games at 9pm LOCAL not 9pm Eastern? I haven't looked close enough at the schedule.
