It’s an impressive demo, but honestly I haven’t used it for syncing with the on screen picture since shortly after I bought it. Mostly just use it for some ambient lighting in the lounge room while watching telly.

It’s a Hue gradient strip, connected to a Hue sync box. I can either set a series of static colours, or have the lights respond / sync with whatever is on screen.

It’s pretty badass. 😜

(On reflection, I should have said "doing *only* the execution" in my first reply. That'll teach me for responding to posts as I'm falling asleep. 😉)

I've built my whole business around being the guy who does the tactical work. But that's not where my (or any other consultants) real value is. 👍

Glad to hear it. And I agree 100% - the best consultants are the ones that can and do roll up their sleeves.

I think the issue many consultants are having at the mo is that most clients want an expert who can think and do, but they often only want to pay pennies for the literal "time spent" doing.

The unfortunate irony of course being that the best consultants eventually tire of doing the execution. That, and execution is easy to commoditise and there’s always someone who’ll do it cheaper. 🫤

I’ve been using Matter.

hq.getmatter.com

Subscription is on the pricey side, but the free version does seem to do what I need, and so far I haven’t hit any “premium feature” paywalls.

Matter brings newsletters, feeds, and read-later into one beautiful interface. It’s the ultimate reading client for the open web.

I’m kind of annoyed. Got my Irish citizenship since Brexit, but haven’t applied for the passport. Now I’ve missed the opportunity to be the smug Aussie going through the EU e-gate while my British-born wife stands in the foreigners queue. 😉

Understood. Cheers for the reply Eike!
