✨GAMES PITCH DECK EXAMPLES!✨

I think I first saw these curated by @legobutts.bsky.social in a round up by @ifnotnowgwen.bsky.social and they are 100% where you should start in making your own pitch decks for meeting publishers, investors etc.

I’ve seen small and new devs scared to show unfinished games because they might “spoil them.” If your audience is just your friends, then that might be true. But don’t you want your player base to be somewhat larger than that?

Playtesting is the secret weapon to making a good game!
Indie Dev Tip of the Day: playtesting isn't just about finding bugs. You don't know if your game is good until many people have ratified it. Until it consistently lands for large numbers of your testers - and don't forget to include new ones every time.

itch is SO small and I have known the site long enough to trust that this isn't them acting maliciously, but itch is SO small and I can't really resent them acting defensively so much as be furious that like two US payment processors get to determine what gets to be made worldwide.

it's actually so cool that the entire global creative ecosystem is basically held hostage by freak reactionary american companies.

Something I didn’t speak to at the time, but should now — it’s not like itchio or Steam have a choice

If they don’t comply with payment processor requests, they lose access to the payment processor. Without the payment processor, the platform falls apart. It ceases to exist. They’re being bullied

ok then. one angle of attack then needs to be actively bombarding Visa and Mastercard's phone numbers and emails.

are customer support phone numbers/emails the best avenue to start with or is there a better option?
The fact that they only needed ~1000 people to call in and email to get their way is actually pretty crazy. There are more people on some of the Discord servers I'm in that could equal their weight, and some of these are just podcast fandoms.

Oof. Joining The Discourse:
- This is not new - it has happened before (see Sony Cambridge, Lionhead etc. closing and resulting in small studios created)
- Compared to the mid 2010s, many more have studied or learned game development and need jobs
- Anyone can make games with free tools

Hi Bluesky, could really use your help 🙏🙏

We just launched our latest game Starless Abyss - the exact week that Oblivion was shadow-dropped. Which has been *not fantastic* for our launch

If anyone can spare a RT, that would be so, so helpful ❤️❤️

Making a game in the UK? Get. Money. Back.

Film/TV relies on tax credits, why don't game devs? The Video Games Expenditure Credit (VGEC) is here to help! The BFI can help with certification, while accountants/HMRC can guide you through claiming.

"But why do film/TV/etc. get more notice when it comes to policy?"

Because they fill out surveys like this one. If you're a game dev in Scotland, there's no excuse not to fill it in. You're literally making a difference to your whole sector by doing that.

A reminder as Musk-bots, Trump-bots, and other bots start hitting Bluesky: blocking users removes their replies from your posts entirely.

The correct way of handlin antagonizing parties is to block. Not reply. Not dunk. Not mute. Block. It stops their reach and effectiveness right there.
