Is it time for a Chris Dornan starter pack? Do you need to know what is happening to what used to be called the “news media"? Here’s an immodest reading list to get you started, whether you are a high school media literacy teacher, the incoming president of the CBC, or the CEO of Postmedia. 👇👇👇
Genuinely curious what this guy's day-to-day life in Ottawa is like. Does he have any Canadian friends? He can't, surely. He's not in a curling league. They'd beat him to a pulp down at the Legion. Does he just shuttle back and forth in an armoured vehicle between his residence and the US embassy?

Things the other journalists present might have said:
"I beg your pardon?"
"Come now, Mr. President."
"Surely, sir..."
"Hold on there ..."
"Did you just call my colleague Piggy?"
What the other journalists said:
Nothing.
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

The entire point of books like 1984, It Can't Happen Here, The Plot Against America, is to make sure fascism doesn't take hold in the West. Literature must try harder.

If I were a student in any one of Summers’ five (!) courses at Harvard this term, I’d be sorely tempted to wear to his next class a T-shirt reading “Not interested in being a ‘mentee,’ thanks.” And to do a brisk trade selling them to my classmates on the way into the lecture theatre or seminar room.

People could actually do the decent thing that one does in such circumstances, and tell him to back off, and take the consequences. I mean for starters.
