Here we go again with media exposure of appalling mistreatment of very vulnerable children, and policy makers declaring "this is intolerable - never again".

Legislation *passed in 2009* must now be commenced, as a first step in protecting children.

And the man who decimated farming to progress his own career

…are now the self-appointed saviours of farming

On today’s pod we discuss how people have lost their damned minds.

I'm struggling to understand the farming/IHT thing. It is clear that the IHT exemption for farmland has massively inflated the price of agricultural land over the last 20 years or so. So you have a situation where a farmer asserts property worth £5 million produces c £50K income per year.

Children need compassion, love and to be heard, not opportunities through breaking down barriers, often erected by the very corporate parent whose duty it is to nurture. Regrettably DFE has missed an opportunity. Happy World Children’s Day.

All true. #VoiceoftheListenerandViewer organisation has just published revised figure of 38% government cuts to #BBC public funding from 2010-2024. This is self-harm to the #UK, in my view.
Indeed, the BBC needs refunding. Over the past decade it's lost about a third of its funding in real terms. Govt-imposed costs (pensioners' licence fees, World Service funding) and licence fee freezes resulted in serious operational impact. UK soft power also damaged.
V good @sundersays.bsky.social 🧵. Also, in #UK we have regulated
#publicservicebroadcasting. I campaign to refund #BBC because we’ve all seen effect of hyper-partisan #US #media landscape. People are in #information #silos. Here, they can go to BBC to check what they’ve seen on #socialmedia. 1/
