You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

Watched EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM (2021). Imagine photocopying an action film, then photocopying the copy over and over. Eventually, you’d get something like this.

The Exploding Helicopter podcast returns this week when we'll be looking at a double helicopter homicide in GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS (2019).

OK, seriously, we all need to be discussing this.

Thanks to @harrrykilmer.bsky.social for making the link to Battlefield Earth.

I may have made this observation before, but I'm struck again how much Leonardo DiCaprio looks like airbrushed, DTV era John Travolta.

Watched JURASSIC SHARK 3: SEAVENGE (2023) the 7️⃣0️⃣6️⃣th film I've seen with an exploding helicopter.
🚁💥🎥
Micro-budget sharksploitation flick. The shark jumps out the water and blows up the helicopter in case you're wondering.

We got two! OPS BELANTARA (1992) and INIMIGO DESCONHECIDO (2020) take the total number of known films with an exploding helicopter to 9️⃣3️⃣7️⃣.
🚁💥🎥
We've known about these ones for awhile, but we can now add them to our lists thanks to a massive assist from @thewykah.bsky.social 🙏

So, these two are on IMDb but not on Letterboxd

Watched TRACK OF THE CAT (1954). This really isn't a love story as the poster exclaims. Although that's a better sales pitch than saying 'ponderous psychological western'.
November 22, 2025 at 9:48 AM
Matt, I love you, I respect you, but that number is UNACCEPTABLE
November 19, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Watched THE BEST MAN (1964) Absorbing political drama with Henry Fonda and Cliff Robertson competing to be the presidential nominee by fair means and foul. Can imagine the political skullduggery packed more of a punch in '64, but it hasn't dated. Currently on Prime in the UK.

Watched GOG (1954) Things I never expected to see in film: Herbert Marshall wielding a flamethrower in a fight to the death with a killer robot.

A classic scene from a classic exploding helicopter film.

Possibly the greatest plot summary on IMDb...

Watched NOW YOU SEE ME NOW YOU DON'T (2025). Wasn't expecting to be presented with a exploding helicopter dilemma in this. Ultimately, I feel the helicopter disappears in a puff of smoke rather than explodes. Therefore we remain on 9️⃣3️⃣4️⃣ known films with an exploding helicopter. ❌🚁💥
November 15, 2025 at 10:24 AM
Watched PREDATOR: BADLANDS (2025) Well, I guess it depends on what you want... if you want a Predator/Alien buddy movie then this is a perfect movie. If you think that humanising the predator is antithetical to the character then you'll consider this film, like me, a canonical atrocity.
November 13, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Watched GOLD RAIDERS (1982) the 7️⃣0️⃣4️⃣th film I've seen with an exploding helicopter.
🚁💥📽️
This is a strange film that jackknifes between quirky entertainment and utter tedium. In addition to an exploding helicopter, Robert Ginty gets to utter the immortal line 'We got company'.
November 11, 2025 at 10:48 AM
I had a look at the data and here are the European countries that have never made a film with an exploding helicopter.
- Greece
- Finland
- Estonia
- Latvia
- Slovakia
- Serbia
- Bosnia
- Slovenia
- Croatia
- Albania
- North Macedonia
- Montenegro

We got one! THE TERRORISTS (1986) aka Menumpas Teroris becomes the 9️⃣3️⃣3️⃣rd film we've found with an exploding helicopter.
🚁💥📽️
This is an Indonesian action film. There's undubbed, unsubtitled version on YouTube. It looks very entertaining, if you like model work, back projection, and wild overacting.

Watched THE LOST BUS (2025) There's a jarring moment in the film where Matthew McConaughey tells us that he's 44 years old. As we know, Matt is closer to 60 than he is 40 so it immediately took me out of the film - especially as there's no need for him to be specific about his age.

Watched CARRINGTON VC (1954) an absorbing, low key, courtroom drama with David Niven fighting to save his army career. Among the cast is Laurence Naismith. He was only 46 at the time, but still manages to look at a decade older. Did he ever look young in anything?
