“I’m an esquire, kid. A barrister. Defender of the common man, the mis-accused.” AFPD in the EDOK. Raised in KC. OSU, SKC, KC Current, Chiefs, and the Thunder.
My girls were in an elementary school choir concert on the day of Sandy Hook. More parents than usual attended, the audience was full of tears, and the kids seemed a little unsure about how many hugs they received at the end. The monsters I thought about that day aren’t so different than these.

That doesn’t tell you anything about what percentage of players on each team are eligible to vote in US elections

MLS teams have a limited number of international spots (although green card holders don’t require one of those spots) I can’t believe that the player pool is more international than the NHL.

The “NFL is rigged for the Chiefs!” weirdos stumbling through this season trying to pin down the updated “conspiracy” is like a watered down preview of what the maga clowns are going to sound like when their king finally kicks it

And despite being called “season ending” it sounds like there is no timeframe (like the different injury designations have in the NFL)?

/6 ICE is a monument to totalitarianism, lawlessness, and bigotry. It should be ripped out and woodchippered root and branch and replaced with something focused on the concept that you can’t defend the rule of law by burning it down.

There are many things that have elevated them into a baronial class of “supercitizens,” and it’s an elevation that is antithetical to a healthy democracy.

This has been a point critics have been making for ages. I hope seeing ICE unleashed makes clear why they have been.
New Laws Are Turning Police Into ‘Supercitizens’ - The American Prospect
A series of legislative and judicial efforts have removed police oversight from oversight boards and communities.

The idea that our demand for human rights and equality has to be packaged perfectly with a bow on top is tiresome. Hopefully this moment demonstrates how the failure to address law enforcement excess is now (through ICE actions) recognized as a threat to democracy in this country.

…democracy when the ppl being treated as second-class citizens are Black. It’s 2025. I demand more of my white fellow-citizens who, by the way, have been using slogans that offend us deeply. Even many Dems use “woke” disparagingly. But still we vote Dems cause we understand the real danger.

At some point, if white people see the killing of Philando Castile, Terrence Crutcher, Samuel DuBose, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, LaQuan McDonald & on and on (those are just ones on video), and want to hang their hat on the discomfort of the slogan to end this, then this country is not committed to

A few years ago I wrote a sentencing memo in which at least 75% of what I wrote was explaining how every single case the AUSA cited was, at best, misleading, and often stood for the exact opposite position of what she claimed. Her memo would have been more persuasive without any citations.

And the rest of the GOP are, apparently, people who just aren't all that bothered by bigots or gutter trash.
