No matter how bright a man is, at some point he is still just a man who may wilt at the most simple flattery from a lady.

In my experience, most white males- even those with ostensible liberal orientation- are comfortable with women and minorities when they are the tolerated guest on our turf; But completely lose their shit when the tables are turned.
