I watched the 1982 parade with my pop culture class on Monday. It was so bizarre but did have Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jennifer Holliday in Dreamgirls and Sammy Davis Jr. then there’s Milton Berle playing Cinderella to Ricky Shroder’s Prince Charming.

I usually have it on as we get things ready as I like catching the Broadway performances and the marching bands.

Ok now irritated that we don’t get the whole A Chorus Line performance 😡 stupid commercials.

How is Finland, consistently rated the happiest country in the world, stereotyped as depressing?

As someone gearing up to bake 4-5 today, I’ll keep an eye out for this! Sounds interesting!

You tube hasn’t been too bad on my school account. We can approve for student use or not. Everything else I have to download or source physically, which sucks because there are some excellent sources that don’t do that well.

It’s a lot of teen eyes seeing those sponsor messages, they see it as advertising.

They should have versions like this of all their documentaries! It’s so hard to find things that fit without taking up multiple class period.
CNN’s Long Walk to Freedom almost fits my 75 minute periods.

Season 2 is on Kanopy if your library has access. There is also a season 3 on HBO Max. It’s harder to find season 2 out in the wild. I have season 1 on DVD. It’s available at most of the usual places, Amazon, Target, Walmart. I think it might be on Paramount+ but I don’t have it.

So cheesy but still. Robert Guillaume as Frederick Douglass! I can still hear Philip Casnoff and his exaggerated accent making war a two syllable word “woah-wah”

Oh it’s a guilty pleasure. It’s so 1980’s and melodramatic. But I loved John Jakes’s books growing up so I was all in. Plus Patrick Swayze is in it. Alas, as a confederate 😕

Not a full biopic but Johnny Cash played him in the 80’s miniseries North and South. #HATM. That had some gun casting. Hal Holbrook as Lincoln. Robert Mitchum and Gene Kelly were in it too. #HATM

Probably not but he seems to have a bit of a conscience, or at least a bit of disillusion with Hoover for manipulating the law. He seems like a believe in the system guy and now he’s seeing how it really works. A smidge anyway.
November 24, 2025 at 2:28 AM
Safe to say Hoover wasn’t a fan of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, which came out in 67. #HATM

Same, but I’ve also experienced it on all the other apps and in the theater.

I think it’s the state of modern movie sound mixing in general. It’s terrible. As well as lighting.

Right? It was around 2018, no teenagers used that word and I’m pretty sure said kid had not been around many black people at all. This is Maine and my school is 95% white which means we had under 10 people of color total.
November 24, 2025 at 1:40 AM
I responded with it’s jive slang for a white person and that no one really uses it anymore. Same argument had the white kid say that black people kept themselves in poverty too. It was an interesting semester. All proper disciplinary measures were taken. That shit is not ok. #HATM
