I’ve admired him and his work for several years. I’m saddened by his passing and hope others have been inspired by him so as to continue at least some of his philosophy.

It was interesting that I got some from my mom after her death in July 2024 and then some from my mother in law after she passed April 2025. It’s been a rough couple of years but I’m glad to have these items that evoke a lot of memories and emotions.

When my mom passed away last year I took a few of these ornaments from my childhood and then when my MIL passed in April I had the opportunity to obtain 2 boxes of them. The ones from my childhood are wrapped in newspaper dated Dec 31, 1963.

When I was in elementary school/jr high/high school, we only got Thursday and Friday too. Local universities have fall break but they don’t have the same dates.

I’m definitely not doing any shopping over the next 4 days or so. Not so much out of protest but because I’m not one for crowds or shopping.

I’m digging your winter choice of chicken pot pie! I would include apple and pecan on my list ( however my wife would agree with you as she doesn’t like pecans).
