Painter, monochromatic bon vivant, train aficionado, keeper of felines, Bellows Falls transcendentalist, Vermont partisan.
Messing with clunky paintings to break them up and render them less literal. Oh, and truck fump.

Because everything is so awful these days even though the days are beautiful, I’m trying to take an hour a day to read outside. It is very nice to be joined by one’s feline companion as the sun sets on so many things. Thanks to Village Square Booksellers for THE GHOST LAB

As many of you know, Capybaras have been my spirit animal since 1980. That said, I went to my small-town pharmacy in Vermont today and got both my flu and Covid booster vaccines no problem. They said they’d been busy all day with folks who ‘believe in science.’ Rock on.

If DWB/MSF wants to ensure that I not donate to them again, this is an excellent way to do it.

Want to learn how we got to this week’s mess with the CDC? Very funny, deeply heartbreaking, totally entertaining. Great roadtrip audiobook (use Libro.fm and support your local bookstore; ditch Amazon and Audible).

On the homestretch of my residency at The Tides Institute in Eastport, ME, so am going to start posting images of works I am reasonably happy with. 23 pieces down; am now going in and starting to rework some of the misfires. This one is Cobra Ivory Black on 9x12 Fredrix Multimedia Board.

This postcard was posted in the Faceplant group BORING POSTCARDS. All I can say is that the graphic design may not be much, but this is NOT boring.

When I was in Ireland last month, you couldn’t swing a dead cat without hitting a plein air painter. Will be discussing this during my REASONABLY FINE ART TALK today on the Tube of Utes.

I am so grateful my beloved, the great @bettysoo.bsky.social , taught me how to make granola.

Back from Art in the Open in Wexford, Ireland, where the mayor gives out the awards and wears extremely impressive chains.

Enniscorthy Cathedral, mostly palette knife and spray bottle, 12x9.

Being in Ireland for the week, what with distance and atmospheric perspective, makes The Shithead’s behavior seem even more aberrant and bizarre. Meanwhile, here’s a painting of Enniscorthy.

Does your cat greet you in the morning by backing up and carefully placing its butthole in your face? If not, ask your cat why not.

Listening to Robert A. Caro’s THE POWER BROKER for the last month as I fix dinner each night, the question I end up pondering is this: why didn’t Caro just call the book what he clearly wanted to: ROBERT MOSES: INCREDIBLE ASSHOLE.
