Reminder, currently 80,000 people are affected. One estimate is that just 3.5% of all people currently employed would be affected in the future (if the threshold doesn't change for 30 years)

There is a fairly modest increased risk of depression associated with hormonal birth control. It's not clear whether this is causal (i.e. the pill causes depression), or whether it's just a spurious association.

Something that definitely causes depression? Pregnancy. Especially unwanted pregnancy.
