Dabney Coleman is a national treasure. RIP.
John Boorman's big city fable has the ingredients of a sharp screwball comedy. Dabney Coleman is a demolition tycoon who moves his trio of "failure to launch" adult kids into a dump he can't demolish & hijinks ensue. I just wish it would've leaned further into the eccentricities of its characters.

it's interesting. but you don't want to taint the memories you have of the movie, I wouldn't recommend the book. Or change the name to Buster Bunny as you read.
I haven’t read the book yet. I own it. But I have fallen so in love with the movie we got and I’ve never made an effort to read the whole thing. I should one of these days.

Have you read the book? It would be interesting to see a movie actually adapted from the source material. Doubt it'd be as good as the movie we got.
Roger Rabbit has always been synonymous w/ Touchstone Pictures for me. In 1981 Disney CEO Ron Miller acquired the rights to the Roger Rabbit novel & started trying to adapt it. Miller also launched Touchstone a few years later. In 1985 the new CEO Michael Eisner revived the film at Touchstone.

Before I hit play, my first thought was Godzilla. This one and the teaser with the guys fishing on the pier were so good that even knowing the movie is terrible, watching the teasers make me want to watch the film.
When the teaser trailer is better than the actual movie.

I met Robert Wuhl a couple months ago and had him sign the Blaze portion of my "First 11 Years of Touchstone" poster. (Forgot he was in Good Morning Vietnam) He said it was the first time in his career someone had asked him to sign something related to Blaze.
While it may be far from accurate, this loose biopic romcom about Gov. Earl Long's fling w/ stripper Blaze Starr gets its heat from latter day Newman's showy performance & Davidovich’s ability to play off of him believably. Ron Shelton captures a comedic tone that has since become his calling card.

Really not a fan of @aewontv.bsky.social incorporating a MITB aspect with the casino battle royale contract. Would prefer it be something that has to be used to set up an actual match and not cashed in whenever. #PlayedOut

How did I know this was going to be Waterworld before it started playing?
One of the most epic twists on the Universal studio logo ever.

This was a good conversation. Really don't understand why we as a society prefer to hate on things. Especially the things we claim to like.
There's a saying in the wrestling community that no one hates pro wrestling quite like a wrestling fan.

I believe that sentiment more today than ever before.

Watch on YouTube.

You never go, "full Marty."
Its not that Nolte & Short aren't well suited for a buddy comedy (Nolte shines in 48 HOURS, Short destroys in another Francis Veber remake PURE LUCK), they just don't have the best chemistry together. I wanted to love this one but the solid premise is undone with a mediocre script.

Top 20 soundtrack of all time.
Now is as good a time as any to remind you that JETSONS: THE MOVIE was originally scheduled to be released in Christmas of 1989 but was moved to summer of 1990 to avoid competing with THE LITTLE MERMAID and ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN.

Thanks. We were just talking about it Saturday night. Still trying to get a reboot/continuation but it's a hard sell.
Man it’s great to hear from you. Especially since you and Mike were my inspiration to start this up. I restarted listening to the podcast as a companion piece to the whole thing. Really appreciate the work you guys put into it.

This is a great idea. I've heard there are some really good Touchstone films.
I'm finally starting this project to watch the entire Touchstone Pictures filmography (every film associated with the Disney label whether through production or distribution) from 1984-2016 & share my thoughts on each release in this thread. Follow along as I revisit the hits, misses & obscurities.

This week, Chad Smart and I took a different perspective on the Montreal Screwjob and discussed what would have happened if Shawn Michaels had been in the Bret Hart role. What if Shawn screwed Shawn?
