The announcement states: “Understanding disease *mechanism* is key: Only when the causes and biological processes of diseases are better understood can targeted *new* diagnostic and therapeutic procedures be developed.”

Well deserved strategic funding - €50 million *per year* for a decade - on ME/CFS and Long Covid research. Spent wisely this could be a game changer. Germany now leads & other countries need to follow. Goal to “decipher the causes and mechanisms and develop new treatments”. #MEcfs #longcovid

The final delivery plan for #MEcfs recommended 3 NHS e-learning modules for HCPs developed by the Department of Health and Social Care with patient groups. These should help shift attitudes.

O'Dwyer and I were promised funding from NIHR by Lyn Romeo in 2022, but O’Dwyer was overloaded with getting promoted to a new post in Birmingham and finally pulled out at the last minute in March this year.
I am now actively looking for another academic to lead on this.
