I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

“I think Pringles' original intention was to make tennis balls... But on the day the rubber was supposed to show up, a truckload of potatoes came. Pringles is a laid-back company, so they just said "Fuck it, cut em up!"”
Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”

the US government is so hostile to immigrants and Palestine activism that they’re snatching students off campuses and deporting them—while radicalized white men like FSU shooter Phoenix Ikner, the son of a cop who used her gun, espouse Nazi ideology and ridicule protesters before killing.

Bad day to post about anything besides everyone's tanking 401(k)s, but:

I have an illustrated piece on the life of a dairy cow, finally out in the world! The dairy industry is brutal. There's really no good reason to mass produce another mammal for its maternal milk

There are *far* more than enough resources in Chattanooga (and the world) to ensure everyone has a roof over their head and a lockable door. The only thing lacking is courage. Thank you, @bensessoms.bsky.social

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

This film took MASSIVE courage to make

"The two-hour film, made over the course of six years"

The people who made it knew that they would likely be charged with new crimes for having contraband cell phones

Praying for them 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

This Hannah Arendt quote feels appropriate right now

"Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty."

Every week, like clockwork, a band practices at the end of our street on what has been affectionately deemed "Mariachi Mondays". Only sounds from the bass guitar and/or tuba penetrate our house, but those reliable, deep tones are a recurring reminder of how much I love our neighborhood.

I have built over 30 benches for bus stops, and helped place dozens more. It's important to know that if I had asked permission to do this, I would've been told no. In the years ahead especially, we gotta put kindness over niceness, justice over civility, and love over whatever "rules" are enacted.

Here are 4 of 22 places of rest built by local high school students with supplies donated by a local women's club. I was able to find each their new home in the last couple of weeks. This kinda thing is how I hope to spend 2025. Direct action within our communities is what keeps us moving forward.
