Sure, Pam. "Ballroom".

Let's call it what it really is:

Trump's Throne Room.

I picked up a used mandocello/cittern in Rochester on the way to visit family in Ontario. My mandolin acquisition syndrome continues. I’ve lost count. Lovely morning view for some Bach

I found a used Bill Patterson mandola on sale yesterday (middle). My mandolin family now has a mid-range.
I’m getting closer to a mandolin orchestra.

INIGO MONTOYA: I do not mean to pry, but you don't by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand?

👀📎 CLIPPY-THE-WONDER-AI: It looks like you're searching for a six-fingered man. Let me help you with that.
Adore this illustration from Sarah Grillo @axios.com. So smart. www.axios.com/2025/04/24/a...

We often forget the true meaning of the Ides of March.

It’s not just about stabbing - it’s about stabbing with friends.

Thanks to Jeff Wyckoff, our 15 year old Mai Tai laser is still in great shape. Out with the old FV1000 multiphoton. In with the new Evident FV4000 multiphoton/confocal. Install starts next week. The new system will be a beast.

Facilities and Staff.

It's broader and avoids any [unjustly] negative connotations of the word administration.

As a core director, yes, I do administration too, but I am really research staff - I help the Science Rock Stars do their thing.
Communication tip: These are “Facilities and Administrative Costs” — “indirects” and “overheads” don’t convey that this is the money paying every cook, accountant, and security guard that supports a research institution.

This line from the miniseries "Island at War" has always stuck with me:

"The first country the Nazis invaded was their own."

Does this oopsie-doodle recension apply to the NIH and NSF?
🚨 BREAKING: OMB has just issued a memo *rescinding* the previous memo freezing all federal financial assistance programs.

I just deleted every old post from that NaXi’s site.
Considering leaving the user account to keep it from getting hijacked.

Deleted my instagram account. I never used it anyway. I'm taking a break from the other meta platform for a bit as well.

People sometimes make fun of science that sounds stupid and random.

Meanwhile, a study of lizard saliva turned into a peptide medication, which was turned into a diabetes medication, which was turned into a GLP1 weight loss drug, that just became the first therapy every approved for … sleep apnea
Breaking News: The FDA approved use of the weight loss drug Zepbound for a common form of sleep apnea. It is the first drug authorized to treat the disorder.

BlueSky Science feed recreates what I loved about science twitter. The short format forces succinct explanations and summary figures - tasty little amuse-bouches of research.

I've been on #Bluesky for a couple of days, and it is already starting to feel like the science twitter I have been missing! It just needs more users.
