Covering the Portland Trail Blazers as associate editor of Blazer's Edge | Co-host of We Like the Blazers | Hand Fruit Historian | Loyola Chicago '21

My first season as a beat writer was the realization of a childhood dream as I covered my hometown team on-site. To me, there’s not a more meaningful story to tell in sports than the Portland Trail Blazers. What an honor to get the chance.

Here's a complete scrapbook of the the '24-25 season:

I would call this a heartening performance from the undermanned blazers tonight

Blazers say Scoot Henderson continues to progress through his rehabilitation for a left hamstring tear and will be re-evaluated in 2-4 weeks.

The team also says Jrue Holiday will be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks due to a right calf strain.

Blazers announce Shaedon Sharpe and Jrue Holiday are both out for tonight’s game versus the Warriors. Gonna be a tough one.

Tiago Splitter says he leaves that game feeling "more irritated" about losing it at the end rather than emboldened by the team's effort to come back.

He was also asked what's the one piece this team needs right now.

His answer: "A point guard."

Ouch

Blazers have the lead back at 118-116. Just an unreal, almost silly comeback at Moda tonight
November 20, 2025 at 5:18 AM
Lmao the Blazers are shutting down this pre-write and making me pay hard, serious attention. The Blazers have cut a 21-point deficit to just 5 with 4 min left

Hmmmm what to say about this game that wasn't largely said last night

The Temporary Restaurant Server: Three Types of Friends…
A piece of Portland came to Chicago last weekend. My close friend Henry Ducey, the best thing I ever got from Mrs. Cheney’s kindergarten class, dropped by for a visit. He was in town for a trip wit…

“Teams are coming here, and they know they can’t … play around,” Blazers forward Deni Avdija said. “We’re tough. We’re aggressive. We’re talented. We’re young. We’re fast, and we’re on an uprise. As I said, there’s something special in Portland.”
The Portland Trail Blazers’ matchup with the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night was a ride.

It was dead and then alive. Frustrating and then euphoric. Hard to watch and then must-see TV. It was imperfect and wacky and nerve-wracking. Above all, it was a win.
