For fun (it is not fun), go on Google Maps and go look at some streets as they change from 2007 to today in 2025. Now do the same for Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. It's the same four-line mini highway it has always been... (1/2)

This is the woman who was killed by a car in my neighborhood recently. A sign left by her house says it all: "The system was never broken. It was built this way." We have designed our streets to kill people to get us to the store four minutes faster. It's our responsibility to undo that.
My one-and-only mother was hit & killed by a car on Wednesday. I am all the adjectives you can imagine: shattered, devastated, bereft.

And no hour has passed in the last 48 where I have not felt unbelievably lucky, overwhelmed with gratitude for all the time I got to be her daughter.

Portland is a really cool city. Even really cool things can get even better.

Turns out when your team is pretty good but gets horribly injured that it becomes bad. Who knew!

An East Portland long-term acute care hospital (that I just biked past the other day on 102nd) is closing next year, laying off over 300 people. Over 70 people will need to find care elsewhere.

This is not good. Hopefully it can reopen under different management.

I'm not saying the Blazers giving OKC their second loss after giving them their first loss will cure all that ails me, but it wouldn't hurt!

Deni Avdija broke some big news today after practice: he will soon be releasing an ice cream brand called “Turbo.” It will be available in Israel first and then in the US later on.

An 87-year-old woman was just killed blocks from my house.

This shit must stop. By that I mean we need to engineer car dominance out of our streets. Streets can ALSO be for cars, but they are for people first.

Portland has 38 deaths from cars this year.
