Seattle. Lover of animals, music, cooking, arts & culture, and statistics & economics. Trying to see as much of the world as possible while I'm still here.
That's my Cheap Trick story :-) For three years, I saw them ~ every three/four months & they were always lovely. Can't speak to their politics as I don't believe that ever came up, but they loved that I volunteered at the Lincoln Park Zoo (10 years!) & we talked about animals more than anything...

I don't remember that much about how the men responded, but the wives were amazing! I remember we went to the bathroom so I could have some privacy, but I never started crying. And one of the women went and got a pitcher of rum runners (grossly sweet) and I don't remember if we drank them or not...

My aunt and uncle arrived (who were extremely generous people) and invited the band mates and their wives to join us for lunch, their treat. During that lunch, Aunt Yvonne told me that my dad had been hospitalized the night before, and it didn't look good.

Most of the sales staff (90% of the folks at this meeting/boondoggle) were either out drinking or sleeping from over drinking the night before, but the band (and their wives, who we also paid to attend the weekend) and I were at the outside bar, reading and enjoying the weather.

Matter-of-fact, they were with us during a meeting on Marco Island in March 1997 when my aunt and uncle drove over from Miami to tell me that my father was in the hospital and wasn't expected to survive. (he would end up dying that Wednesday)

Wow - second time I'm responding to one of your posts in the same week - not something that happens to me often :-)

Cheap Trick was our "house band" when I was a Sr. Manager of Finance at USN Communications in Chicago. I have sung on stage with them during many of our sales/awards meetings.

I 100% fall into that category, although I don't think the men are disappointing; it's like they don't exist!

I have done wonderful dating events, but all the men live in the suburbs & feel Seattle is too dangerous.

I honestly don't understand why there aren't 50/55 yo single men in Seattle :-)

I want it IN THE CITY! (specifically the Fremont/Ballard neighborhoods) It drives me crazy when people say it's going to snow in Seattle, and they mean 50 miles away.

Yes, I understand that many folks hate snow - but you know what, some of us love it! And we all have value...

I agree w/ this. I am so surprised w/ his stances & don't understand why he is running away from the constituency that elected him.

I have subscribed to both Foreign Policy & Foreign Affairs for more than 30 years. I'm not a scholar, but I'm pretty well informed & I cannot explain this...

Why does this bother you, and do you understand how this comes across?

This is like if the Harris' came through on recycling day, looked at your trash and said: "he put this 2" piece of plastic in THE WRONG BIN!"

This makes me sad...

I would kill for that kind of snow! I love Seattle's weather very much, however, my only qualm is the lack of snow. It drives me nuts... ❄️

In my opinion - it's doubtful they're respond... I follow 5 #WAWX folks, and whenever I have a question or comment - it's crickets... I appreciate them - very much - but they don't respond to anything.

As a #KEXP Amplifier - I can attest that the rewards are amazing! Not only do I get to support a station where the music truly matters, but I also get to see some great private shows.

Also, I'm not a big TV watcher, but last night I was bored, so I watched 5 Tiny Desk concerts in a row :-)

Glad you were here :)

RE: tech - not all are in that space, but regardless, there are wonderfully creative, brilliant & silly people in Seattle... To generalize - we like to solve problems & fix things - part of why I love it so much 💚

I personally hope you spend more time here!

Give a talk??

Hopefully you have good wine, scotch, and snacks so you won't have to leave the island 😉

For years, I've wanted to spend a week in Tofino during winter weather. We don't have storms that dramatic here, but you must have a pretty cool view during good rain events. I hope you enjoy & post pictures! ⛈️

Yay! ⚽️ That's pretty close to what I was hoping for :)

Thanks for writing about this on Wonkette this morning.

Due to reading your article, I now have a ticket to a screening of "The Librarians" this Thursday, December 11th @ the Seattle Public Library 🙂

Love this!

Walked through there at 9:30 PM two Thursdays ago on my way to meet friends and was thrilled to see how many people were sitting out there enjoying the evening.

Actually, I've had a bunch of events at night in downtown/Occidental lately; it's been wonderful seeing it so alive again!

I actually think MoPop is my least favorite of his buildings, and the Guggenheim Bilbao, and the Disney Concert Hall are my favorites.

But the fact I even have an opinion on his buildings shows how much I appreciated his work!

Thanks for sharing the clip! 🙂
