Australia’s emissions down 2.2% last financial year.

Govt says it is the biggest annual drop in gross emissions recorded (ie not counting land/forests).

This has been put out ahead of a dump of climate documents and Chris Bowen making his annual climate statement.
Australia’s emissions from fossil fuels down as electricity from renewables passes 40%
While greenhouse gas emissions fell 2.2% or 9.9m tonnes last financial year, new policies are needed to meet the 2035 target

We welcome APRA taking action in response to the Greens’ & community concerns for the massive spike in investor lending. However, this alone won’t cool investors’ stampede of the housing market. Jim Chalmers must direct APRA to use their levers to curb runaway investor lending.

Murray Watt is a flog. @australianlabor.bsky.social Your party is supposed to be protecting the population of Australia against the polluters, against the miners, against the dangers of climate change. What has happened? Who's funding you to take this ridiculous stance? #auspol #ClimateCrisis
Minister Murray Watt asks Australians to believe we can better protect nature by facilitating faster exploitation with less regulation and less scrutiny.

It's staggeringly unlikely this stupid power will ever be used.

Congratulations to the Albanese Government and @tanyaplibersekmp.bsky.social for embarrassing themselves, for insulting the welfare and legal sectors, and wasting everyone's time for no public or political benefit whatsoever.
Sadly, they cut a deal with the Libs to indeed rush this through
