It's just the same cycle that's been going on since Istanbul in 2022. Putin tells Ukraine to give it everything he's asking for, which is capitulation, when they say no, Putin's poodle Trump blames Zelenskyy. Putin also wants to dismember NATO and who has his poodle been denigrating this week?
Russia obviously has no intentions whatsoever to end the war prematurely, i.e. before a complete surrender of Ukraine. The current negotiations are just playing for time, as always. Russia knows that the US are not going to ramp up military support, and Europe is too weak.

If US threats towards Greenland continue, Europe could refuse to refuel American ships in European ports, require higher payments for the stationing of US troops — or even close US military bases.

This is all part of the Putin/Trump Axis of Evil plan to carve up the world. Russia in Ukraine with the Donbas, USA with Greenland & now in Canada with Alberta, it goes along with weakening allies (well ex allies in my book as I now regard the USA as an enemy, politicians are catching up slowly).

In the long term that will be good because then Ukraine and Europe will have to develop alternatives (which they should have done ages ago anyway) as it stops Trump, the overgrown toddler squatting in the White House, using US weapons supplies as a tool to bully others.
